Interest evolved to deeper research turning her trained knowledge of nutritional formulation for dietary benefit to informed formulary for topical use.
Developing this knowledge with subsequent qualifications in aromatherapy, reiki and a transformative education at the CTU – California, saw Jan segue successfully within four years to combining the predictive wisdom of ancient formulary based on holistic principles of healing to a rapidly evolving loyal customer base.
Client feedback gathered momentum in response to notable efficacy fuelling further bespoke formulary harnessing the ancestral knowledge of exceptional medicinal plants.
The backdrop of advanced therapeutic biochemistry was seeded for a skincare-plus portfolio affording bioavailable vitality both topically and internally for considerable protective effect – KAKAMAQ+ was formed.
The Team:
A collective of conscious creators and curators, inspired by Jan’s energy and the KAKAMAQ+ vision.
We have come together from various experiences within our respective journeys developing expertise in the myriad facets of the exceptional natural world that has been gifted to us.
In order to develop, formulate, curate and promote a responsible portfolio of ecological and holistically sound wellbeing products – we gladly centre our common goals around our commonly-held core values.
Our Values:
Too much cruelty has been committed against animals in the name of skincare and beauty and we consciously refute this ideology and choose not to contribute to or have any part in it.
We formulate our products and test them on ourselves, our families, friends, peers and colleagues who wish to be involved in our research and development processes.
As a vegan brand we do not use any products made of, by or derived from animals.
We only formulate with plant-based versions of many ingredient compounds that could otherwise also be extracted or derived from animals.
KAKAMAQ+ will always use the plant-based version or an alternative ingredient if there is no plant derivative. KAKAMAQ+ will not use animal byproducts.
Our definition of natural responsibly encompasses the absence in our formulations of anything that might be harmful to our internal balance even if it can be found naturally in the biosphere.
These are natural compounds that our bodies and plants produce, and they are effective at warding off pathogens and prolonging shelf-life – they are however also potential “endocrine-disruptors”, meaning they can adversely affect hormones and trigger a variety of grave health conditions.
(SLS), is a thickening and cleaning agent that is regularly used in the industry in a myriad of personal care and cleaning products. SLS can be derived from natural sources like coconut and palm kernel oil as well as be man-made in a laboratory.
While considered safe by industry regulators when used briefly, it can be absorbed by the body (particularly if used in products that are not rinsed off such as lotions, hair dye and creams) and has been known to build up and play a role in kidney and liver dysfunction.
We do not use synthetic fragrances or those created from plants and formulated with denatured alcohol (such as ethanol) which is a known allergen and trigger for various skin conditions.
The aromas in our gorgeous smelling products are wholly derived from the natural ingredients and plant-based compounds we use, such as from essential oils and hydrosols which are examples of nature’s many natural and wholesome aromatic protectors.
We owe nature the goodness it bestows on us. As such we believe it is our ethical responsibility to ensure that we do nothing to harm but rather to support and enhance the biological cycle of the earth.
Our bamboo closures are biodegradable and our glass packaging is recyclable.
It is our conscious decision with all of our product development to only put to market what we are able to do in packaging that will not negatively impact the environment and affect it’s sustainability
